Aside from the English and French language, German is one of the main languages in the European Union; currently ranks first in number of speakers - about 100 million - and the second (after English) with regard to the most taught foreign languages in schools and universities.
Learn German today, it is an advantage for professional success, especially in science and health; according to the German embassy in Portugal, officials say that the there is a great need for electrical engineers, computer engineers and health professionals, a rather deficient area in Germany.
According to the same sources, "there is a lack of about 5,000 physicians in German clinics and hospitals", a field suffering a great shortage in this country. Curiously, “employees with training in technical areas and in health care have higher rates of employability“.
However, Germany is not the only place where there will be great employment opportunities for those who hold German language skills. Having official status in countries such as Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland, are places with increasing career opportunities as well, particularly in the areas such as tourism, trade, services, hotels and restaurants.
